Kanal - Centre Pompidou
What if the raw material for our city’s future wasn’t imported from far away, but found right beneath our feet?

Join us at Kanal for a unique, hands-on atelier where we turn the act of building into an act of discovery. We invite you to reconnect with the soil of Brussels, a material often overlooked as mere waste, yet abundant in the very ground of our construction sites.
In this three-hour immersive workshop, you won’t just learn about the circular economy; you will physically enact it. You will handle, mix, and press local earth, experiencing firsthand the transformation of raw soil into a solid building block. Using a manual brick press, you will participate in the complete cycle of production, making and unmaking, to understand the tactile potential of the loam, sand, and clay that define our region.
This atelier is more than a craft session; it is a collaborative exploration of what it means to build responsibly. By the end of the session, you’ll have a new perspective on the city you inhabit, grounded in the reality of its own material resources.
Come get your hands dirty, discover the potential of our local earth, and help us rethink how we build, one brick at a time.
