How can words and images interact with each other?
During this sketching session, Belgian comic artist Rani De Prée invites you to experiment in playful and unexpected ways with the combination of words and images.
A speech bubble, a piece of text found in the museum, a snippet of a conversation overheard in one of the galleries… It’s up to you to find a way to incorporate these words into your drawing. From a playful collage to a carefully crafted composition, you decide how words and images can complement, contradict or enhance one another.
A creative exercise that will encourage you to look differently at composition, coherence and the power of a single word. Above all, it’s an invitation to experiment and let your imagination run free!
Rani De Prée (1993) is a Belgian comic artist. She studied Comics at LUCA School of Arts and Writing at RITCS. Her debut graphic novel, ‘Lucien’, was published in early 2026 by Dutch publisher Menlu. Her work explores themes such as identity, humanity and imagination. Visually, she focuses on emotion, rhythm and silence, using a restrained yet expressive style.
Everyone is welcome: young or old, experienced artists or curious beginners.
The session will be held in Dutch and English.
