A group of performers uses megaphones to amplify, direct and misdirect speech through Kanal’s public spaces, exploring what forms of presence, solidarity and political imagination can emerge in this moment of crisis. Their voices shift between legible language and energetic force, forming a bullhorn chorus whose sonic field creates conditions for call and response. Here, the megaphone becomes a tool for assembling a community whose members can speak with and alongside one another.
Drawing on transnational genealogies of queer action, CRI CRI CLAP ROARRRR remains invested in the unknown futures of queer life. Hayes considers what it means for a public institution to emerge in present-day Brussels and how its arrival might reshape the city. What forms of orientation, movement and sociality must be imagined and negotiated as a new cultural institution opens its doors to the public? In times of violence and erasure, how might people act with love, hope, rage and vision to create new fields of possibility?
