William Kentridge is one of the leading figures in contemporary art in South Africa. He was a supporter of the movements fighting against apartheid. His animations denounced his country’s policy of segregation. As Bozar’s Grand Invité for the 2026-27 season, together with The Centre for the Less Good Idea, William Kentridge takes over Bozar with the exhibition “I am not me, the horse is not mine” and a selection of projects throughout the season.This lecture (in French), which takes a light-hearted approach despite its serious subject matter, will explore, amongst other things, the discrimination experienced by artists in South Africa - as seen in the works of Kendell Geers and Jane Alexander - and in the United States by Kara Walker, Theaster Gates and Glenn Ligon.
