Founded in 1994 as the live band for dance company Rosas, Brussels-based contemporary music ensemble Ictus brings together works by artists and composers including Svetlana Maraš, Tristan Perich, Maryanne Amacher, Fabio Machiavelli and Natasha Pirard in an immersive setting.
Through self-built electromechanical instruments, resonant objects and spatial sound environments, these artists explore the porous boundaries between contemporary music, sound art and experimental practice. Composition and instrument design become inseparable, and listening turns physical.
Instrument Room transforms Kanal into a soundscape where visitors move freely among performances, installations and listening environments. Works are activated throughout the building; instruments are exhibited and performed, shifting between concert, sound installation and exhibition.
