FILM SCREENING ‘COWARD’ - Where cinema meets history

  • Events
An Immersive Experience at the Crossroads of Cinema, History and Remembrance

Through COWARD, cinema explores the realities of the First World War, bringing to life the stories of an era shaped by conflict. Drawing on the collections, archives and historical expertise of the War Heritage Institute (WHI), the film’s artistic vision is informed by a close dialogue with history, grounding its fictional narrative in the historical reality of the time.

To extend this encounter between cinema and remembrance, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History, located in the heart of Brussels’ Cinquantenaire Park, invites visitors to experience the history of the Great War from a fresh perspective.

In this remarkable historical setting, the film screening will be followed by a guided tour of the museum’s First World War collections. A temporary exhibition will further enrich the experience, offering a closer look at the world of COWARD and highlighting the War Heritage Institute’s historical archives that helped bring the film to life.

Bringing cinema and heritage together, this unique experience offers a fresh perspective on the relationship between artistic creation, historical research and collective memory. It is an invitation to discover the history of the Great War through the lens of cinema and the wealth of historical records preserved by the War Heritage Institute.
