For over two decades, artist Laure Prouvost has made video central to her practice, using it as a material through which language, (mis)communication, dreams and realities take form.

Brimming with anecdotes, humour and magical thinking, her works let seemingly disparate ideas, images and words collide, thereby creating new possibilities. From reimagining the museum (If It Was, 2017) and escaping the physical mind and body (Every Sunday, Grand Ma, 2023) to exploring quantum phenomena (We felt a star dying, 2025), Prouvost’s videos conjure alternative visions of the world. Often, these worlds spill from the screen into immersive installations that play with scent, sculpture and light.
Characterised by a DIY, home movie aesthetic, Prouvost’s videos can be seen in galleries, biennials and film festivals alike, using proximity and spontaneity to draw the viewer into their universe.
