Calixto Neto. Feijoada

  • Events

Brazil’s iconic dish feijoada is more than food — it’s a symbol of memory, resistance, and survival. In his powerful performance, Calixto Neto blends movement, rhythm, and taste to reflect on its origins: a meal made from scraps given to enslaved people. Rather than narrating history, the piece becomes a shared ritual — a space to dance, eat, and remember, questioning which bodies and lives are marginalised.
Presented by Bozar in collaboration with Cultureghem and supported by the European Beautifood programme, Feijoada fosters reflection on food justice through art, community, and participation. Cultureghem, based in Anderlecht, turns a former market into a vibrant hub for cooking, sharing, and co-creation.
