For each Bozar all over the Palace, Bozar stays open later. On March 26, visitors are invited to discover the Picture Perfect exhibition, which challenges stereotypes of beauty and perspectives on what defines us as beautiful, through a selection of photographs and videos.
The exhibition provides a context for performances by Lia Haraki, Vessel, and Panos Malactos, Sadboi, adapted especially for Bozar. The evening continues with a DJ set in the Horta Hall and a selection of short films screened in The 23.
VESSEL
VESSEL is a durational audible experience of sound pieces in the style of mantras, intended to contribute to the well-being, inner beauty, and the emotional and mental balance of the listener. The sound pieces, made by the artist Lia Ηaraki to the sound of sound designer Yiannis Christofides, use what Lia terms ‘repetitive poetry’, and are made with transformative sound frequencies. The pieces are heard in a safe space which acts as a listening room, filled with comfortable bean bags, and audience members are invited to stay in the space for as long as they desire. Through the artist’s performance of live vocals and her caring energy, VESSEL becomes an offering for the listener to enjoy several energetic states of their inner universe, away from today’s buzy lives.
SADBOI
“I had a boyfriend. Then I got dumped. I got dumped, I bought a thong and I need lots of validation.”
Panos Malactos works with Elias Adam and researches the concept of radical stage vulnerability. SADBOI likes his suffering raw. He is gay, horny, heartbroken and extremely peaceful. He instagrams, therefore he exists. SADBOI is an auto fictional portrait of a sadboi dancer. The show attempts an ambiguous and complex narration, which explores sex, love and sadness in the fully technological and sexualized post - modern age. SADBOI aims to create an immersive experience where intense physicality intersects with the virtual space of internet (social media, memes, dating apps). If love songs are dumb, wait till you hear this one. How many fire emojis will this get? The admins of this show are searching for validation.
