In this hands-on workshop, graphic designer Astrid Fieuws approaches bookbinding with a fresh perspective, inspired by the rich book culture of the Burgundian dukes, which you can discover at the KBR museum. Starting from leftover paper from KBR and from her own studio, you will get to work creating a unique notebook.

In a fully manual, step-by-step process, you will assemble your own notebook: from selecting and combining papers to organising, gluing and finishing the book. No specialised tools are required, making it easy to apply this technique at home afterwards.

Special attention is given to the grain direction of the paper, the structure of the book, and various cover options, including a reinforced self-cover. You will experiment with materials, structure and finishing, and go home with a personal and sustainable object that gives existing paper a new meaning.

No prior experience required – just curiosity and a desire to work with your hands!
