Part dance party, part live performance: Bal BRUT transforms Kanal into an immersive performance space where everyone is invited onto the dance floor, celebrating the idea of mixité. Because every body is vulnerable and – at best – only temporarily able. Sooner or later, we all end up battered and bruised, missing a limb, lacking eyesight, or grappling with our own minds.

For Bal BRUT, Andrew Graham joins forces with Ghent-based dance organisation laGeste to create a space where distinctions between performer and spectator, professional and amateur, and disabled and non-disabled slowly dissolve. Embracing difference as a creative force, this large-scale participatory project is developed through workshops and open studios with Brussels organisations, culminating in a vibrant three-hour ball.
The result is a two-day programme celebrating dance as a force for social change and collective creation.
