From 27 June 2026 to 3 January 2027, the Brussels City Museum presents a unique work of contemporary embroidery. This monumental piece was created in the textile workshop at the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Integration into Work in a collective project that brought together artists and participants.
Inspired by the Bayeux Embroidery, often regarded as one of the first journalistic accounts in textile, this contemporary work offers a sensitive reinterpretation of the major events of 2020. By bringing to life these recent events, the project reflects on a tumultuous year that is etched in people’s minds: as was the case with the Battle of Hastings, there is a before and an after Covid.
Half textile art and half social project, this collective work stands for the wealth of different perspectives and the power of shared artistic expression. Discover it in the heart of Brussels, at a museum that promotes dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creativity. A work created by the people of Brussels that tells of a time we all went through.
