Le violoncelle de Dobrawa Czocher dessine des paysages néoclassiques entre élan cinématographique et exploration sonore.

Dobrawa Czocher (b. 1991) is a Polish cellist and composer whose work moves fluidly between classical precision and contemporary experimentation. A graduate of the Chopin University of Music and the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, she was leader-soloist with the Mieczysław Karłowicz Symphony Orchestra from 2018 to 2023.

Known for expanding the sonic possibilities of the cello, she has built an acclaimed career as a soloist, composer and collaborator, notably alongside Hania Rani, with whom she released the Deutsche Grammophon album Inner Symphonies. In 2023, her solo debut Dreamscapes (BMG/Modern Recordings) earned critical acclaim and six nominations at the Opus Klassik.

Alongside performances across Europe, Czocher has expanded into theatre and site-specific composition, including the 2024 opera D’arc, for which she also composed Sonata for Solo Cello: Joanna’s Tale, released in June 2025. Rooted in classical traditions yet shaped by filmic and minimalist influences, her music balances technical mastery with striking emotional depth.

Her second solo album State of Matter, out March 27, 2026 via FatCat Records’s 130701 imprint, marks a new chapter, expanding her sound through percussive cello, Moog synthesisers, electronics and layered vocals. Written after relocating to Poland’s Baltic coast, the album draws on themes of transformation, movement and nature’s shifting forces, while lead single Blue offers a first glimpse into this more expansive, rhythm-driven and textural sonic world.
