Archives of former governments and city services, publications and documents relating to all the aspects of Brussels’ life, dating from the Ancien Régime.

The Archives of the City of Brussels (ASB) are located since 1979 under the roof of what once was a textile business by Jules Waucquez and Company, a worthwhile example of commercial architecture of the 20th century. The 20 kilometers of archives that are stored here form the essential information source of the history of the city. Besides the archives of the City Magistrate since the Middle Ages and the present city officials, the archive possesses abundant source of documents relating to the inheritances from social, political, intellectual, artistic, and daily history of Brussels.
