Bozar partners with Brussels Bijoux for the performances Thank God I’m Not Straight by Izo Pinay and The End of the End by Nina Plantefève-Castryck.
Thank God I’m Not Straight is a 45-minute solo in which 32-year-old dancer and performer Izo Pinay draws inspiration from the baptism of the eunuch by the apostle Philip and from queer theology. Pinay challenges the hegemony of white cis-heteronormativity and reclaims biblical texts that have been used to legitimise abuse against the queer community. The work explores her love for God, colonial heritage, and an understanding of gender beyond binary frameworks.
The End of the End by Nina Plantefève-Castryck is a 45-minute multidisciplinary performance involving young people from Brussels and Antwerp (aged 18 – 25). Blending music, dance, poetry, singing and spoken word, the piece imagines an ending in which all movement and change come to a halt, making silence and timelessness tangible.
