Young Peter doesn’t like listening to his grumpy old grandpa. When, going against his grandfather’s wishes, he nevertheless pushes the gate and leaves the garden, a great adventure begins for him. He talks to all kinds of animals, including a bird, a duck and a cat. But when he comes face to face with a wolf, maybe his grandfather will be proven right after all: Isn’t it far too dangerous out here? Or will Peter and his new friends manage to outwit the wolf?
With melodies as accessible as they are irresistible, Sergey Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is to this day one of the most beloved compositions for children. As each character is voiced by a different instrument, it is also the ideal introduction to the symphony orchestra! Music director Alain Altinoglu and the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra continue their annual tradition of family concerts with this classic. On 4 February they will succeed where grumpy grandpas always fail: getting children to listen!
