NIYAR is visual theatre, a theatre of paper and thread that tells us a story of writing and erasures. The sign becomes paper, or is it the paper that becomes the sign? NIYAR takes the audience on a poetic visual journey, blending happy, sad and wonderful moments.

In a mountain of white paper, she sits, deep in thought, after hours and hours of writing. Anything can happen. The lines between despair and hope, dream and reality, begin to blur. Suddenly, the papers around him wake up and begin to move. The sun rises in the world of the imagination. Niyar” is a world within a world. A story within a story, it’s about love, loss and the desire for fulfilment. Hard work in an imperfect world makes us sad. Feelings of love make us happy. In Niyar’, sadness and despair overwhelm a paper soul.

This visual poetry is also the work of two artists, Mayan Iungman and Philip Ruckenwill.
