Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao founded her office Tatiana Bilbao Estudio in 2004 Her work is acclaimed for its combination of geometry, social relevance and environmental awareness. Recent projects include the Sea of Cortez Research Center in Mazatlán, dedicated to research into marine and terrestrial ecosystems; the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (Phase 2) in Austin, a facility for the community and the arts; and the Culiacán Botanical Garden, which integrates biodiversity and research into the public realm. Tatiana Bilbao is also active in Europe. She has designed, for example, a Cistercian monastery in Neuzelle, Germany, and is currently working on the Porte de Montreuil in Paris. Both projects emphasize sustainability, context and innovative design.
