Leo Middea is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist born in Rio de Janeiro in 1995 and currently based in Barcelona. Over the past decade, he has built a solid international career, performing 400+ shows across 20 countries and establishing himself as one of the most exciting names in the new generation of Brazilian music.
Leo has released five acclaimed studio albums: Dois (2014), A Dança do Mundo (2016), Vicentina (2020), Beleza Isolar (2020), and Gente (2023). His music blends the richness of Brazilian rhythms — MPB, samba, and bossa nova — with global influences, creating a sound that resonates across cultures. With 20M+ streams and 160K+ monthly listeners on Spotify, Leo continues to connect with an ever-growing audience worldwide.
A natural storyteller, Leo is recognized for his unique path and creative initiatives. In 2019, he famously funded the recording of Vicentina by asking strangers on the streets of Lisbon for €1 each — a story later turned into a mini-documentary. That album quickly surpassed 1 million streams and positioned Leo as an artist capable of transforming challenges into art.
Over the years, Leo has performed at prestigious venues and festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Disney Paris, Salle Pleyel (Paris), and Bari in Jazz (Italy). He has also opened for iconic artists, including Marisa Monte in Paris and French legend Sheila at Salle Pleyel, performing for over 2,000 people. In 2023, Leo embarked on a nine-month tour, performing 80 shows across three continents. In 2024, he reached another milestone, performing over 100 shows in a single year.
In addition to his live success, Leo made history at the Festival da Canção in Portugal, becoming the first Brazilian to ever reach the final and placing second. He was also invited by the Portuguese Prime Minister to perform at the official concert commemorating the Bicentennial of Brazil’ s Independence.
Currently, Leo is working on his sixth album, “Notícias de Puglia ” , a record composed and recorded on the road during his extensive tours. The album captures the essence of his live performances, blending intimacy and energy in a way that mirrors the connection he creates with his audience
