Jeanine De Bique & Concerto Köln

  • Others
Mirrors

With her gorgeous voice and theatrical performance, Jeanine De Bique is conquering the world’s greatest opera and concert stages at astonishing speed. In Mirrors, the Trinidadian soprano confronts imposing arias by Handel with their reflections in less famous vocal fireworks by his contemporaries Graun and Broschi. After all, the great German composer was not the only one to portray heroines such as Cleopatra, Rodelinda and Alcina in music. In the da capo arias typical of the Baroque, De Bique lays bare a whole range of emotions including rage, grief, desire and pain. The German Concerto Köln supports her with verve.
