Hippotraktor return with Stasis, the formidable follow-up to their acclaimed 2021 debut Meridian. Blending progressive metal, post-metal and crushing groove-driven heaviness, the Belgian five-piece deliver a dense and cinematic record built on towering riffs, intricate rhythms and atmospheric tension. Across seven compositions, Stasis explores the complexities of human nature through an intense and emotionally charged sonic journey.
Originally formed as an instrumental trio by guitarist and producer Chiaran Verheyden, bassist Jakob Fiszer and drummer Lander De Nyn, Hippotraktor evolved into a full five-piece with the addition of guitarist/vocalist Sander Rom and vocalist/percussionist Stefan De Graef. The arrival of De Graef’s narrative-driven vocals added a new depth to the band’s already ambitious sound, transforming their compositions into immersive and dynamic stories.
Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic force of Meshuggah and the atmospheric weight of Gojira, Stasis combines massive grooves, layered melodies and expansive songwriting into a rich and immersive listening experience, confirming Hippotraktor as one of the most compelling new voices in progressive metal.
