Drawing on hacked cameras around the world, the duo intercepts live video feeds and uses their metadata to create an improvised audiovisual composition in which image and sound continuously produce one another. The artists describe the work as a “live improvised documentary”. Repurposing surveillance technologies for speculative cinematic ends, the performance unfolds in real time, exposing systems that organise movement, communication and perception. After the performance, Hoff and Kudler will discuss their practice and the relationship between networked technologies, sound and moving images in a conversation moderated by Eliel Jones, curator of performance and time-based media at Kanal.
