Introduction to the collective
This exhibition is a collection left to run wild, open to every wind. Twenty years of images bloom here, intertwine, spilling over the well-guarded borders of the past to invade the present. They are what we saw. What seized us. What demanded to be shown. Faces, dramas, joys. Everything the whirlwind of the world sweeps up and lays before our restless eyes.
Each vision will have lasted only a brief instant. But that fraction of a second, made eternal in a photograph, holds within it its entire history. It bears witness. It whispers, it cries out. It calls us to account for its existence and compels us to face it as it is, without looking away.
We, the photographers of MYOP, hold to this commitment to go out and meet the world, to listen to its stories, to relate its joys, its sufferings, its poetry. Against the algorithmic fever that falsifies reality, we set the complexity of the living, the richness of encounters, the energy of long time.
We believe in the power of images — insofar as they carry us toward others, open up the field of our curiosity, our reflection, our emotions. We believe in the power of testimony, in the sensitive imprint of the lives unfolding around us. We want to gather them, to tell their share of shadow and light. To pay tribute to them at times, to do them justice where we can.
This work embraces the entire shape of life; it never stops. New images are already being born. The exhibition will keep growing. As long as one of us still stands there.
