At just 23, Cardiff-born singer-songwriter Ben Ellis is emerging as one of the UK’s most quietly magnetic new voices, blending the intimacy of acoustic songwriting with the emotional depth of indie-pop.
His journey began with 2023’s DIY debut Ed’s House, recorded in a makeshift home studio. When lead single “Sofia” went viral — boosted by a stunt flying to a random country for a tattoo — it propelled him to millions of streams and a rapidly growing fanbase. His 2024 follow-up Hollywood EP marked a shift towards a more polished sound, bridging his lo-fi beginnings with his evolving artistic vision.
In 2025, Ellis released “where she goes”, the first single from his third EP, written across two trips to Los Angeles in the aftermath of a breakup. Produced by Grammy-nominated Matt Rad and longtime collaborator James October, the project dives into the complexities of heartbreak, capturing moments of clarity and confusion with striking honesty.
Now backed by strong support from BBC Radio 1 and Spotify playlists like New Music Friday UK and Fresh Finds, Ellis has built a deeply engaged community that connects to his music on a personal level. Following tours with Henry Moodie and Alfie Jukes, as well as festival appearances including BST Hyde Park, he continues to gain recognition for his emotionally charged live performances, where fans sing every word back to him.
