Porcelain from Brussels. The Service with Birds for the First Consul traces the history of the table service painted in Brussels by Louis Cretté at the beginning of the 19th century. The pieces feature depictions of birds inspired by Buffon’s Histoire naturelle des oiseaux.
The publication situates this exceptional service within the broader context of porcelain production in Brussels and, more generally, among the great European table services.
