Through the ages, the bodies of women have been objects of gaze, injunctions, resistance, and conquest. Contemporary women writers boldly reclaim this living history to rethink beauty, reject norms, and demand new paths to emancipation. Three prominent guests will engage in dialogue at Bozar on the body and its place in society, history, and the family: Camille Froidevaux-Metterie, philosopher, explores the “battle of the intimate” and women’s relationship to society, using phenomenology to understand the lived experience of female corporeality; Christelle Taraud, historian, sheds light on the domination and violence women have faced throughout history; Nathacha Appanah, acclaimed author, gives voice through her fiction to the trials of the body and the resilient power of writing, giving voice and breath to those who refuse silence.
