Bozar and SIC (SoundImageCulture) invite Ana Vaz, one of the most significant visual artists of her generation, for a Close-Up. Born in 1986 in Brasília, her work explores the relationship between humans, their environment, and collective memory. Her films, blending the political, ecological, and poetic, delve into the buried ghosts of her hometown, a symbol of both promise and fracture.
Over three evenings, the public will have the opportunity to discover her unique practice through a selection of her films and reflections. A graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Le Fresnoy, she extends her work beyond cinema to include writing, installations, and pedagogy. Winner of the Kazuko Trust Award, she is currently developing Anhnanguera at the Villa Medici, a trans(e)historical fiction inspired by the colonization of Brazil’s Far West.
