From the original myth to its contemporary reinterpretations, Medusa compels us to reflect on the concept of metamorphosis. Is the heroine of the newest La Monnaie opera a monster, or does she embody a protective power? Are the snakes in her hair attackers to be feared, or vigilant and protective guardians?
Over the course of two workshops, the collectif Meute invites you to decypher this complex and fascinating mythological figure. How can we give voice to that which petrifies, and transform it into strength? How can the body express what words cannot? Come and learn to listen, support, and create a vibrant and united stage presence, whilst discovering the capabilities of your own voice and body to redefine opera as a space for shared metamorphosis. You will then have the opportunity to present the result of this collective work in the Fiocco Room during the literary evening The Gaze of Medusa.
