Ambrose Akinmusire ft. Brussels Jazz Orchestra

Miles Davis is and remains one of the most iconic figures in jazz history. For his 100^th birthday, Bozar has brought the Blue Note trumpet player Ambrose Akinmusire to the Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO). Together, they have developed a unique project that, rather than looking back in nostalgia, looks to the future with a fresh, contemporary vision. Akinmusire has delved into Davis’ rich oeuvre and selected some of his personal musical highlights to serve as the basis for both new creations and innovative arrangements. The result is a creative dialogue with Davis’ legacy – a contemporary search for the impact and meaning of innovation. Moreover, top arrangers Vince Mendoza and Guillermo Klein were engaged to shape this new creation. This is proof that Davis’ artistic spirit is still relevant, continuing to challenge and inspire new generations.
