Bozar presents an evening featuring two choreographic productions echoing the two major exhibitions on beauty: Seconds in Clouds by Alexandra Waierstall and ODE by Elena Antoniou.
Waierstall employs a sober, precisely structured movement language that enters into dialogue with visual artist Rita McBride’s arena installation. This performance explores the relationship between body and space, inviting the audience to dream their surroundings.
ODE, the new creation by Elena Antoniou, is a duet with singer and multi-instrumentalist Maria Spivak. Inspired by the thinking of Audre Lorde, Antoniou transforms the institutional space into a “field of chords” where rupture and rebirth meet, and vulnerability becomes a source of strength.
These two performances question beauty in their own way, moving away from conventional forms, sometimes as a speculation of the imagination, sometimes as an emancipatory and political force. An evening that crosses Bozar from the Horta Hall to the Terarken, as part of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
