8 exhibitions not to be missed in Brussels in 2020

‘New year, new me’... or something like that? Anyway, we promise you that these 8 upcoming exhibitions in 2020 are a transcendent way to start your year. Let's get it on!

Sébastien Bonin - Botanique

20.01.2020 > 19.04.2020

The anthropomorphic pop creatures of 11 international artists remind us how bestial our society can be. What if MIMA gave us a little pop lesson in humanity?

Wolfgang Tillmans - WIELS

01.02.2020 > 24.05.2020

WIELS presents the first exhibition in Belgium dedicated to the German artist Wolfgang Tillmans. World-renowned, he always pushes back the limits of photography as an artistic medium. His ambition? ‘To make images that speak about what it feels like to be alive today.’ Ballsy!

Mondo Cane - BOZAR

19.02.2020 > 24.05.2020

Welcome to the future! Sensation at the 2019 Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art, this exhibition of slightly freaky dolls by Jos de Gruyter and Harald Thys is set up in an enriched version in the BOZAR spaces, foreshadowing a kind of contemporary museum of popular art.

Liberating women and changing the world: feminism in Belgium in the 1970s - BELvue Museum

20.02.2020 > 24.05.2020

Much remains to be done to ensure an egalitarian society for all women. In order to keep the fire of the courageous feminist activists burning, the BELvue Museum, together with the Centre d'Archives et de Recherches pour l'Histoire des Femmes, takes a look back at the feminist movements of the 1970s. An inspiring and free exhibition.

Le Monde à Plat - Boghossian Foundation

05.03.2020 > 22.08.2020

How about laying our cards on the table with the world? The Boghossian Foundation showcases a new selection of works by contemporary artists who interpret through art the image of our planet.

Sean Scully - Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium

27.03.2020 > 16.08.2020

The stellar abstract painter Sean Scully takes a surprising trip at the Royal Museums. With the Eleuthera series, he returns to figuration with a colorful and moving proposition depicting his son playing a beach on this island of the Bahamas.

It never ends - John M Armleder - KANAL Centre Pompidou

04.04.2020 > 01.11.2020

Thought KANAL was to be closed for a while? Think again! "It never ends" offers John M Armleder the entire showroom of the old Citroën garage as a playground.
