  • Description: The Royal Monnaie Theatre, one of the leading theatres in Europe, is an opera house with three hundred years of history. This magnificent example of European theatre architecture represents a rich historical and cultural heritage with contemporary accents. In 2000, the Monnaie opened its new rehearsal rooms and workshops in a modernist building just behind the theatre. Besides "Les machines de ręve" - a unique scale model of a baroque opera which shows the reconstruction of 18th century theatre equipment - la Monnaie also exposes art works of Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Emile Fabry, Günther Förg, Sam Francis, Sol Le Witt, David Claerbout and Pierre Alechinsky.
