Created by Jean Massart in 1922, this garden currently contains several collections. Among the themed gardens are a collection of over 300 species of medicinal plants classified according to their principal active ingredients, a collection of cultivated plants demonstrating the history of certain species using their wild ancestors, and an evolutionary garden in which the classification shows the evolution of flowering plants. There are also two collections illustrating the research conducted by the ULB’s laboratory of plant ecology and biogeochemistry. There is also a wetland area, an arboretum, an orchard and a collection of very beautiful wild plants.
