Museum Night Fever
Museum Night Fever 11/03/2017: how wonderful it was!
MNF17 goes down as one of the most successful editions so far. This way, we’d like to thank the enthusiastic volunteers, visitors and museums for the swirling atmosphere they created all together.
The 11th of March turned out to be the very first sunny Saturday of the year, which probably made a lot of people feel slightly more tempted to discover Brussels and its museums. Obviously, the bigger museums such as Bozar and BELvue attracted the largest number of visitors. However, also the Ixelles Museum welcomed over a dazzling 4.000 visitors.
Around 7 pm a few firebreathers and the one and only Brussels’ orchestra La Clinik du Dr. Poembak ignited the fire on Place Royal, which meant the start of an unforgettable night. Thus, the signal was given to some thousand young artists to conquer the entire city center of Brussels.
For the 3 new participating members the Brussels’ night of the museums brought a lot of joy as well. Visitors had to show some patience to enter the Boghossian Foundation and to admire the performances and adjustments done by Destelheide and the Koekelbergse Alliantie van Knutselaars. The FTRSND collective added an experimental, hypnotic soundtrack to the expoistion of Dutch master of graffiti DELTA, while Opera Capture Club paid tribute to the history of Belgian dance and performance at ARGOS.
With 16,500 visitors around 10:30 pm Museum Night Fever was completely sold out. The festive evening was concluded at Bloody Louis, where MacSwell hosted a fine line-up of dj’s, including Nico Morano and Faisal. Through video mapping and live painting the spirit of the event lived on until the wee small hours of the night.
Icing on the cake this 10th anniversary edition was the visit by His Majesty the King. Our king, accompanied by Princess Eleonore and princes Emmanuel and Gabriel, visited Train World, where the royals admired the acrobatic stunts of Circolito.
The MNF17 wristband allows one free visit to one of the participating museums. An overview of the 20 participating museums can be found on the official website of Museum Night Fever.
Enjoy your extra visit, we already started thinking about next year…
